CML wows audience in Rotherhithe

…with the help of ‘Lady Danbury’

Collegium Musicum of London returned to the Brunel Museum’s spectacular Grand Entrance Hall on the banks of the Thames in early July for a programme of choral music and readings on a nautical theme.

Former CML member Caroline Crampton’s book, The Way to the Sea – about the journey take by the Thames  to its estuary – garnered great reviews when it was published in 2020, and the choir was delighted to welcome Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury from TV’s Bridgerton) to read from the book.

Songs of the waves accompanied the readings, including some popular favourites and culminating in a rousing rendition of Elgar’s Sea Pictures. As the photo illustrates, the audience was in raptures at the end!
