Bach’s B minor Mass

Bach’s B minor Mass

Another packed house for CML on 3 May, for the choir’s stirring performance of Bach’s masterpiece at St James’s, Clerkenwell.

Stylish performances from all four soloists Eloise Irving, Martha McLorinan, Simon Wall and Tristan Hambleton, accompanied by a fine orchestra of Baroque instrumentalists produced a standing ovation at the end of a memorable evening.

On his return to the podium, CML musical director Greg Morris conducted proceedings with an assured hand, bringing the very best out of the choir, in what surely must be one of the ensemble’s most accomplished performances.

Audience reaction

‘Wonderful concert in beautiful Church. A real treat to hear Bach’s B Minor Mass sung so well in this ideal setting. The tenor, Simon Wall, was particularly authoritative, and alto Martha McLorinan’s Agnus Dei was moving.’

‘A truly wonderful evening’

‘ A superb performance by Collegium Musicum of London of one of the most major works of religious music. The singers and orchestra (including period instruments) were tremendous.’

‘A brilliant performance. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.’
