In autumn 2019, Collegium Musicum of London was thrilled to take part in English Touring Opera‘s semi-staged production of JS Bach’s monumental St Matthew Passion, at Temple Church in London. An ecstatic audience attended the event, which featured a children’s choir, authentic baroque instrumentalists and a host of exceptional soloists. The production is now touring the UK.
‘Collegium Musicum were vivid and alarming in the big dramatic sequences: rarely have I heard “Barrabam!” sung with such gleeful cruelty.’
– Benjamin Poore, Bachtrack
‘Fabulous stuff – great to see it presented that way, including period instruments, and a wonderful setting.’

‘The choir was really very good, as were the soloists and orchestra. And your conductor cannot be accused of a lack of energy. Many congratulations on putting on such a grand – riveting even – musical event.’

‘So passionate and such a good pace. Loved it, must have been a blast singing it, well done!’
