Collegium Musicum of London’s burgeoning reputation was enhanced at St James’s in Piccadilly on Saturday December 3rd as the choir, alongside an impressive ensemble of soloists and period instrumentalists, were applauded to the rafters by a large and appreciative audience.
Highlights of the evening included soprano soloist Augusta Hebbert‘s fine singing in Haydn’s Salve Regina, the band’s polished Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, and the choir’s accomplished and spirited contribution to the Nelson Mass.
CML Musical Director Greg Morris conducted proceedings with his usual brilliance and flair, and the large audience went home happy to have been part of an evening dedicated to two of classical Vienna’s most celebrated sons.
