Armada! concert attracts large crowd to St Bart’s, Smithfields

The choir’s acappella concert of 16th-century English and Spanish music last Saturday at St Bart’s in Smithfield showed CML at its polished best – in front of a sell-out audience. Guitarist Moises Silva contributed hugely to an enjoyable evening in truly stunning surroundings.

Watch out for the CD and digital download later in the year!

Audience reaction…

‘A truly remarkable concert in a venue that enhanced the experience. The choir were absolutely splendid.’

‘An unexpected treat. Sublime singing and playing in a hidden gem of a venue.’

‘Beautifully performed polyphony in a fabulous venue. Given that all the pieces were from the 16th century , it was remarkable to be hearing them in a venue that pre-dates them by 400 years.’

‘Lovely music in the very atmospheric venue of St Bartholomew the Great Church. The choir, which sang unaccompanied, was very impressive and guitarist was also great – who knew a guitar could sound like that?!’

‘The concert last night was truly wonderful. Of course the surroundings were very special, but your singing was just beautiful. The romanesque arcades of the apse looked so like those of Cordoba cathedral, making the Spanish connection even stronger.’
